We are the church choir of St Mary's Priory Church, Abergavenny. The choir consists of about eighteen children and sixteen adults, and has a commitment to leading the worship at the morning services week by week, as well as a number of occasional special services throughout the year.
The choir rehearses on Friday evenings from 5.30 to 7pm; our trebles (children) start at 5.30 and finish at 6.30, the adults join the fray at 6.00 and finish at 7.00.
On the second Friday of each month we sing either Evensong or Choral Eucharist at 5.15 pm before Choir Practice. Children will normally join the choir as trebles from the age of eight; all choristers receive a weekly singing lesson, on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Here we give individual voice training and the opportunity to undertake our Choristers' training Scheme.
Each year the choir undertakes a "Singing Week" tour, which in 2008 saw us serve as "choir in residence" at Peterborough Cathedral for 24-29 July.
