What have two bishops, a judge, the principal of a theological college and a solicitor turned priest have in common?
They, together with the Chaplain of Cardiff Prison, are all speakers at a series of Sunday evening services on the theme of Christianity and the Law, taking place at St Mary’s Priory Church throughout Lent.
The first two focus on Equality and The Law of Love – Is it Sustainable? The preachers are, respectively, the Rev’d Canon Stephen Kirk, Vicar of Ystrad Mynach, and the Rt Rev’d John Davies, Bishop of Swansea and Brecon – both former solicitors.
The four Sundays in March will see the Rev’d Mark John, Chaplain HM Prison, Cardiff, preach on Justice and Righteousness – Can it be done? on March 7, with the Rev’d Canon Peter Sedgwick, principal of St Michael’s College, Llandaff, speaking on Political Correctness the following week.
Then on March 21, Judge Nicholas Cook QC, Recorder of Cardiff, will focus on Forgiveness and the Unforgiveable while on the last Sunday of the series, March 28, the Rt Rev’d Dominic Walker, Bishop of Monmouth, will preach on Breaking the Law.
All these services start at 6pm.
