Holy Land Pilgrimage
Holy Land Pilgrimage 2010
The year 2010 sees the 10th anniversary of the Parish's first pilgrimage to the Holy Land and, to celebrate that, we are planning to return to Israel from May 7 to 16.
The programme includes, among many other things, visits to the archaeological excavations at Meggido, the Biblical site of Armageddon, and the remains of Herod’s harbour and the amphitheatre at Caesarea Maritima.
For some of the time, we will be based at the Hotel Ein Gev, on the eastern shores of Lake Galilee, from where we will visit the Mount of the Beatitudes, the ancient city of Bania, known in the Gospels as Caeserea Philippi, Mount Bental and Mount Tabor, the place of The Transfiguration, as well as other Galilean places in the Gospels.
Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives
Our stay in Jerusalem is at the Mount Zion Hotel, which overlooks the Old City and the Abbey of the Dormition. We will visit the Israel Museum and the Museum of the Scrolls, the greatest collection of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Visits are also planned to Bethlehem and the Dead Sea.
We’ll also walk the Way of the Cross and visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial Museum.
